Bio Music is the air that I breathe." From the artist`s own words, comes the summation of a lifetime of music for Mele, a strong and versatile singer, keyboardist, and songwriter. Based out of Tampa, Florida, she has been charming audiences throughout the Southeast with her warm, buttery voice and disarming smile since 1990. In recent years, many people know her as the "Piano M`am" of Carnival Cruise Lines, directing the raucous sing alongs in the piano bars of such ships as the Inspiration (1997-98), Paradise (1998-2000), and Jubilee (2001).Never content to passively sing a song, Mele is known for her ability to "become" the song, to make her audiences feel the lyrics, whether they are fun-loving, painful, angry, or sarcastic. "You've got to see her live...it's her energy and excitement that keeps you wanting more." When it comes to playing familiar music, she'll have you dancing, tapping your feet, or singing along. "It's hard to not have fun with her. It's so obvious that she loves what she does." "You can't help but have fun because you know that she is having fun." It's hard to pin Mele down to one musical style or category. She is an incredible vocalist who has the ability to re-create subtle inflections of the original artists on cover tunes and sing her own styles on her original songs. "You never get tired of hearing her sing...She has a way of making you feel like you've heard many performers in one night." Mele copyrighted her first songs and began performing professionally at the age of twelve. In 1986, she received her first radio airplay of two of her original contemporary Christian songs, "Have You Been Born of God?" and "He Bids Me Come" . These two songs are now available on a 2 song EP. In addition, Mele has a full-length original pop/rock cd that was released in 1998. After releasing a collection of Broadway and movie favorites in 1999 and a 3-cd set of piano bar sing alongs this year, she tells us that she is excited to get back to her original writing and that a new original cd is in the works now. This is one performer who clearly loves to make music!
